Eleanor Roosevelt Quote on Ethical Leadership

It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself. – Eleanor Roosevelt

Leadership is earned by gaining the respect of those who want to follow you. (Management is given to you by those in your organization who have the power to control its resources.) As you gain the respect of your team, it’s important to understand that their respect is something that you will have to continue to earn. Based on the actions you take, your credibility as a leader is always under continuing evaluation by your team members. To lead your team effectively, walk your talk. Don’t ask them to do something that you are not willing to do yourself.
