At first glance, this sounds like a motivational cliché. This quote is true, however.
While an experience may be painful, it is only a bad experience if we do not learn from it.
To learn from every work experience—even the painful ones—managers have to possess emotional intelligence. Managers who develop their ability to manage their emotions and maintain their motivation in the face of adversity reframe their bad experiences. They make lemonade out of lemons.
These emotionally-intelligent managers keep learning, adapting, and evolving from all of their work experiences—no matter how painful some of them may be at the time.
